One of a kind.
This quilt features delicate robin’s egg blue fabric juxtaposed with the heavy charcoal color in a pattern that reminds me of anvils, used to forge cast iron.
I began the quilt with the blue fabric, and as often happens, the pattern and accompanying fabrics altered my original idea into something much different. Art as meditation is the process I use to create quilts, so there is no pre-planning involved. But sometimes, the direction of the creation is really surprising!
As it turns out, this quilt seems to express my feelings of personal strength and usefulness, even though I am approaching 80 years old! I can still work with the tools of creation, the anvil, which are now moderated by the gentleness of age.
