One of a kind.
Authentic kente cloth is woven in strips, and like the Scottish tartans, denote particular tribes and leaders. This quilt features a reproduction of a vibrant kente cloth.
Quilting can be a way for me to re-vitalize my spirits if I am feeling bound-up or tired. Often, I begin by allowing one fabric to inspire me, and then build from there, with no pre-planned idea of what to do next. Creating this quilt was one of those rejuvenating moments.
The black and white printed elunds are one of my favorite prints. Elunds represent persistence; they will begin to run and then run and run until they bleed from the nose...they do not stop! They keep going as long as they can...They are also considered by some to be the messengers and connection to Spirit. This vibrant lap quilt can certainly raise one’s spirits!
