This contemporary folk art quilt features the batik of Lukandwa Dominic, an artist who lives in Uganda. Dominic’s work is hand-done, with layers and layers of batik wax and paints applied over time. His work is inspiring and relevant. The green/gold fabric in the triangles is an African print, and the design of the peak-a-boo circles suggest that we look beyond our own situation to see the common thread which unites us.In this time of pandemic, I am aware of the importance of participating in the world community in ways that serve the greater good. Wearing a mask, while politicized, seems a way of doing my part during this time.
