One of a kind folk art.
As long as I can remember, the arrival of the daily mail was an exciting moment for me, and I would always (and still do) run out to the mailbox with wild enthusiasm, hoping for wonderful things coming to me!
Many of my fabrics come to me from overseas; to me, the labels are works of art bringing me wonderful things from around the world. This quilt features photo-fabrics of some of the actual international mailing labels of packages of fabrics that have come to me.
I’ve used postal-inspired fabrics of stamps and hand-written notes and have added several actual vintage USPS promotional buttons for detail.
The brown border fabric seems a nod to the view of the land from the perspective of an airplane window.
