One of a kind.

Ananse Village is a community of African artisans in Northern California. They work with traditional methods of batik, and I like to support their work!

This quilt features two primary patterns of fabric. The pattern for the quilt in my mind, began as a disciplined idea. But I found that following strict guidelines squelched my creativity, so “off the rails” I went and quickly changed courses into a free-form meditation.

The active textile patterns and the small piecing of the quilt lend an air of chaos to the quilt while the organized stripes hope to add a measure of sanity! It’s a fun piece and would raise one’s spirits to be wrapped in it, a reminder that holding onto the reins too tightly might constrict the flow of one’s life.
